Weather overview

São Paulo has a subtropical climate with distinct wet and dry seasons, making it a year-round destination with mild variations. The city rarely sees extreme temperatures, but the difference between summer and winter can still shape your experience. If you prefer drier days, visiting São Paulo between April and September will be more comfortable, while the rest of the year brings frequent rain showers.

The warmest months in São Paulo are December through March, when daytime highs reach 27–28 °C, though nights stay mild. The coolest period falls between June and August, with temperatures occasionally dropping to 12–14 °C at night. Even in the cooler months, São Paulo remains pleasant for exploring, with fewer crowds and lower humidity.

Temperature

Temperatures in São Paulo follow a gentle curve, with the hottest weather in January and February, averaging 23.3–23.5 °C. Daytime highs often climb to 28 °C, while nights cool to around 19–20 °C. By April, the air begins to soften, and by July, the coolest month, the average drops to 17.7 °C, with lows near 12 °C.

The transition months—March, September, and October—offer a balance, with averages between 20–23 °C. The city’s elevation tempers the heat, so even in December, temperatures stay manageable for outdoor activities.
