Скарду sits in the Karakoram range, where the air is thin and the seasons shift sharply. From November to March, the town is wrapped in winter’s quiet chill, with temperatures often dropping below freezing. The landscape turns stark and serene, ideal for those who prefer solitude over crowds.

When April arrives, Скарду begins to thaw, and by May, the valleys bloom with wildflowers. The brief summer, from June to August, brings warmth and life, though rain can interrupt plans. By September, the air cools again, and the mountains prepare for another long winter.

Winter in Скарду is cold, with January averaging -2.3 °C and nights plunging to -5.8 °C. Even in December and February, daytime highs barely rise above 2 °C, so layers are essential. The coldest months are best for travelers who don’t mind bundling up.
