What to pack

Visiting Каракорум in winter requires heavy insulation. Pack thermal layers, a windproof parka, insulated boots, and accessories like gloves and a hat to endure temperatures below -20 °C. Even in March and November, when daytime highs hover near freezing, nights remain bitterly cold, so warm clothing is essential.

For summer trips, lightweight but layered clothing works best. Days in June and July can reach +20 °C, but nights cool to +10 °C or lower, so a fleece or light jacket is useful. A rain jacket is advisable for July and August, when sudden downpours occur. In April, May, and September, prepare for both cold mornings and mild afternoons with versatile layers.
