Weather overview

Аден sits on the southern coast of Yemen, where the Red Sea meets the Gulf of Aden. The city’s climate is consistently warm year-round, with only subtle shifts in temperature and rainfall. Most months bring dry, sunny conditions, making Аден a destination where you can expect plenty of sunshine and minimal rain.

From January to September, Аден experiences its driest period, with almost no rainfall and high temperatures that peak in June and July. The brief transition in October brings a noticeable increase in precipitation, though it remains modest compared to many tropical destinations. By November, the weather returns to its usual dry pattern, offering stable conditions for travelers.

What to pack

Given Аден’s consistently warm climate, lightweight and breathable clothing is essential year-round. For the hottest months, June through September, pack loose-fitting garments made from natural fabrics like cotton or linen to stay comfortable in temperatures that can exceed +35 °C. A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen are also must-haves to protect against the strong sun.

While evenings in Аден remain warm, a light shawl or long-sleeved shirt can be useful for cooler nights, particularly in January and December, when temperatures dip slightly. If you plan to visit in October, a compact umbrella or a light rain jacket may come in handy, though heavy rain gear is unnecessary. Comfortable sandals or breathable shoes are ideal for exploring the city, while swimwear is a year-round staple for beach outings.
