What to pack
For a winter trip to Нукус, layering is key. While days in December and January can be sunny, nights drop below freezing, so a warm coat, gloves, and a hat are essential. A scarf will help shield against the desert winds, which can make the cold feel sharper. Comfortable walking shoes are a must for exploring the city’s museums and markets.
Summer in Нукусе demands lightweight, breathable clothing—think loose-fitting shirts, wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses to protect against the intense sun. A light scarf or shawl can be useful for covering shoulders if visiting cultural sites. Since the air is dry, moisturizer and lip balm will help prevent dehydration. Don’t forget sunscreen, even on cloudier days.
In the shoulder seasons, March to May and September to November, pack a mix of light layers. Mornings and evenings can be cool, while afternoons warm up quickly. A light jacket or sweater will come in handy, especially for early starts or late evenings. Comfortable shoes remain important, as the city’s attractions are best explored on foot.
