Weather overview

Джабиру lies in Australia’s tropical north, where the year splits neatly into two distinct halves: the wet and the dry. From November to March, heavy rains transform the landscape into a lush, vibrant green, while rivers and wetlands swell with life. The air feels thick and warm, with temperatures hovering around +27...+34 °C.

The dry season, spanning May to September, offers a stark contrast. Rainfall drops to almost nothing, and the humidity eases, making it the most popular time to visit Джабиру. Days are sunny and warm, with cooler nights, especially in June and July, when temperatures can dip to +19 °C. This is when the region’s wildlife is most active, and outdoor exploration feels effortless.

Temperature

Temperatures in Джабиру stay warm year-round, but the range between day and night shifts with the seasons. During the wet season, from December to February, daytime highs often reach +34 °C, while nights rarely drop below +25 °C. The heat feels more intense due to the humidity, but it’s a steady warmth rather than extreme spikes.

In the dry season, the mercury still climbs to +33 °C or higher in September and October, but the air is drier and more comfortable. Nights cool down noticeably, especially in June and July, when lows can fall to +19 °C. This makes early mornings and evenings pleasant for walking or wildlife spotting, while midday sun calls for shade and hydration.

What to pack

If you’re visiting Джабиру during the wet season, pack lightweight, quick-drying clothing and a sturdy rain jacket. Waterproof footwear is essential for navigating muddy trails, and a wide-brimmed hat will shield you from both sun and rain. Mosquito repellent is a must, as the standing water attracts insects.

For the dry season, light layers work best. Days are warm, so breathable fabrics like cotton or linen are ideal, but evenings can be cool, so a light sweater or long-sleeve shirt is useful. A hat and sunglasses are still necessary, as the sun is strong year-round. If you plan to explore the wetlands or rivers, bring water shoes and a dry bag for your belongings.
