Beregovoe is one of those rare coastal settlements that hasn’t tried to reinvent itself as a resort. There are no crowded promenades with carnival rides, no swarms of tourists, no overpriced cafés with menus in five languages. Instead, you’ll find quiet streets lined with houses topped by weathered tiles, old fishing boats moored at the dock, and the briny scent of seaweed carried on the wind. The sea here isn’t the gentle, sun-warmed kind you find further south—it’s wilder, more dramatic, with waves crashing against the rocks and a horizon that seems to stretch forever.

Life in Beregovoe moves to the rhythm of the tides. In the mornings, fishermen head out to sea, and by midday, the local market is filled with the day’s catch—cod, flounder, mussels—still glistening from the water. By evening, the shore comes alive in its own unhurried way: some mend nets, others cast lines from the rocks, and a few simply sit, watching the sun dip below the water. There are no grand museums or theaters here, no must-see attractions. What Beregovoe offers instead is something harder to define—a sense of time slowing down, of small moments expanding into something deeper.

The village’s history is tied to the sea. What began as a humble fishing settlement grew over time but never lost its essential character. During the Soviet era, it became a quiet retreat for workers and their families, though it never succumbed to mass tourism. Today, it draws those who seek solitude, who are tired of the noise and haste of modern life. The locals don’t go out of their way to cater to visitors; they simply live as they always have, and that, in many ways, is the place’s greatest charm.

Winter transforms Beregovoe into something stark and beautiful. The sea freezes over, mist clings to the rooftops, and the village feels almost deserted, save for the occasional winter angler. Summer brings a different kind of life—tents dot the beaches, children build castles from smooth stones, and guitars hum by evening fires. Yet even at its busiest, Beregovoe never feels like a resort. There’s no forced cheer, no polished veneer, just the quiet persistence of a place that refuses to change.

If you come here, don’t expect luxury or entertainment. Beregovoe is for those who value simplicity, who find beauty in the unadorned. You can wander empty beaches, collect shells, watch gulls wheel overhead, or do nothing at all but sit by the water and listen to the waves. There are a handful of small guesthouses where you’ll be welcomed like an old friend. And if you’re lucky, a local fisherman might invite you to share a pot of fresh fish soup—then you’ll understand why this place lingers in the memory long after you’ve left.
