Weather in Минделу: What to Expect by Season

Минделу enjoys a warm, tropical climate with minimal temperature swings throughout the year. The city’s location on São Vicente Island ensures steady trade winds, keeping the air fresh even during the hottest months. Most of the year, Минделу experiences dry conditions, with only a brief period of increased rainfall.

From November to July, Минделу sees almost no rain, making these months ideal for outdoor activities and beach time. The warmest period arrives in August and September, when temperatures peak, and occasional showers may occur. Even then, the rain rarely disrupts plans, as it tends to be short-lived.

Temperatures in Минделу remain pleasant year-round, with averages ranging from 22.2 °C in February to 27.5 °C in September. The coolest nights drop to around 20.2 °C in March, while daytime highs can reach 30 °C in September. The ocean mirrors this warmth, staying between 22.9 °C and 27.8 °C, perfect for swimming at any time.

The transition from May to October brings the warmest weather, with June through September feeling particularly balmy. Even in the cooler months like January and February, Минделу rarely feels chilly, thanks to the moderating influence of the Atlantic.
