Weather overview

In Trinidad, the weather stays warm year-round, with subtle shifts between the dry and rainy seasons. From January to April, the city enjoys its driest and sunniest months, making it a popular time for visitors. The air feels fresh, and daytime temperatures hover around +28 °C, while nights cool to about +19 °C.

Starting in May, humidity rises, and by June, the rainy season begins in earnest. Trinidad sees more frequent showers, especially in September and October, though downpours are often short-lived. Even during these months, the city retains its charm, with lush greenery and fewer crowds. The transition back to drier weather starts in November, offering a pleasant mix of warmth and lower humidity.

Temperature

Temperatures in Trinidad remain mild to hot throughout the year, with little variation between seasons. The coolest months, January and February, bring averages of +22.5 °C and +22.9 °C, while the hottest period spans July and August, peaking at +27.7 °C. Even at night, the thermometer rarely drops below +18 °C, so air conditioning or light bedding is useful.

Daytime highs in Trinidad can reach +33 °C in July, but the coastal breeze often softens the heat. From May to October, the combination of warmth and humidity can feel intense, especially midday. If you prefer milder conditions, December through March offer the most comfortable temperatures, with highs around +28 °C and cooler evenings.

The rainy season arrives in June and lasts through October, with September being the wettest month at 184 mm. While rain is more frequent, it usually comes in brief, heavy bursts rather than all-day drizzle. By November, precipitation tapers off, and the city gradually returns to its drier rhythm. What to pack

For a trip to Trinidad between November and April, pack lightweight, breathable clothing—think linen shirts, shorts, and sandals. A light jacket or shawl is useful for cooler evenings, especially in January and February, when temperatures dip slightly. Sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and reef-safe sunscreen are essential year-round, as the sun is strong even on cloudy days.

During the rainy season, from May to October, add a compact umbrella or a waterproof cover for your bag. Quick-dry fabrics and water-resistant footwear will help you stay comfortable if you encounter a sudden shower. Mosquito repellent is also a good idea, as humidity can increase insect activity. For beach days, a rash guard or swim shirt offers extra sun protection, given the high UV index.
