Weather overview

Сиемреап enjoys a tropical climate with two distinct seasons: dry and rainy. From November to April, the weather in Сиемреапе is mostly dry, with plenty of sunshine and lower humidity. This period is ideal for exploring temples and outdoor activities, though temperatures can rise noticeably by March and April.

The rainy season in Сиемреапе begins in May and lasts through October, bringing frequent downpours and higher humidity. While rain can be heavy, it usually doesn’t last all day, leaving room for sightseeing between showers. The landscape becomes lush and green, and crowds thin out, making it a quieter time to visit.

Temperature

Temperatures in Сиемреапе remain warm year-round, with little variation between seasons. The coolest months are December and January, when daytime highs average around +30.7 °C to +31.2 °C, while nights drop to a comfortable +21.1 °C to +21.9 °C. This is often considered the most pleasant time to visit Сиемреап.

From February onward, the heat builds, peaking in April with daytime highs reaching +35.9 °C. Even at night, temperatures rarely fall below +26 °C, so staying hydrated and seeking shade becomes important. The rainy season offers some relief, with slightly lower averages around +28.2 °C to +32.7 °C from June to September.

Rainfall in Сиемреапе is minimal during the dry season, with January and February seeing just 8.3–15.6 mm of rain. During the rainy season, short but intense bursts of rain are common, often in the late afternoon or evening. While this can disrupt travel plans, the rain also cools the air and fills the moats around Angkor’s temples, creating striking reflections. If visiting Сиемреап between May and October, packing a light rain jacket and waterproof footwear is wise.

What to pack

For a trip to Сиемреап in the dry season, lightweight, breathable clothing is essential. Opt for loose-fitting fabrics to stay cool in the heat, especially in March and April, when temperatures climb above +35 °C. A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen will help protect against the strong sun, while comfortable walking shoes are a must for temple visits.

If traveling during the rainy season, pack quick-drying clothes and a compact umbrella or rain poncho. Waterproof bags for electronics and documents are useful, as sudden downpours can catch you off guard. Even in the wetter months, temperatures remain warm, so layers aren’t necessary—just be prepared for humidity and occasional rain.
