Weather overview

Кисангани lies near the equator, so its weather stays warm year-round with only subtle shifts in temperature. The city experiences two distinct seasons: a drier period and a rainier one, though even the driest months can bring occasional showers. Daytime highs rarely stray far from 30 °C, while nights remain comfortably mild, usually above 21 °C.

The most stable weather in Кисангани arrives in January and February, when rainfall is minimal and the air feels less heavy. By March, humidity starts to rise, leading into a stretch of mixed conditions from April to July. The heaviest rains typically fall between August and November, with September often marking the wettest month. December brings a gradual return to drier days.

Temperature

Temperatures in Кисангани vary little across the year, staying within a narrow band that keeps the climate consistently tropical. The warmest months are February and March, when daytime highs can reach 34–35 °C, while the coolest nights occur in July and August, dipping to around 21.5 °C. Even at its mildest, the city rarely feels chilly.

From May to October, the mercury settles into a steadier rhythm, with highs around 30–32 °C and lows hovering near 22 °C. The slight drop in temperature during these months is often offset by increased humidity, making the air feel warmer than the numbers suggest. November and December see a gradual warming trend, though the difference is barely noticeable.

What to pack

For a trip to Кисангани, lightweight, breathable clothing is essential year-round. During the drier months of January and February, light layers and a hat for sun protection will suffice. As the rains pick up from March onward, quick-dry fabrics and a compact umbrella or rain jacket become useful. Waterproof footwear is a good idea, especially for September and October.

Since temperatures rarely drop below 21 °C, heavy clothing isn’t necessary, but a light sweater or shawl can be handy for cooler evenings. Mosquito protection is advisable at any time of year, given the tropical climate. If visiting during the wetter months, packing a waterproof bag for electronics and valuables will help keep them dry during sudden showers.
