Weather overview
Джайпур sits in Rajasthan’s semi-arid zone, where the year splits into three distinct phases: cool and dry, scorching and dry, then warm and wet. From November to February, the air stays crisp, with daytime highs around +22...+28 °C and nights that can dip to +9 °C in January. This stretch is the most comfortable for exploring the city’s forts and bazaars without the weight of summer’s heat.
By March, the dry season shifts into high gear. April and May bring the year’s highest temperatures, often climbing past +40 °C in the afternoons. The sun dominates, and shade becomes a necessity. The monsoon arrives in June, easing the heat but replacing it with humidity and frequent downpours. Rainfall peaks in July and August, occasionally flooding low-lying streets, while September sees a gradual return to drier conditions.
Temperature
The coolest months in Джайпур are December and January, when average highs reach +22...+24 °C and lows drop to +9...+10 °C. Evenings can feel chilly, especially outdoors, so a light layer helps. By February, the mercury starts rising, and March marks the beginning of a steady climb toward summer.
April and May are the hottest months, with daytime temperatures routinely exceeding +38 °C and occasionally touching +40 °C. Nights offer little relief, staying above +27 °C. The heat can be intense, making midday sightseeing difficult. June brings slight relief as the monsoon begins, but the combination of +33 °C and rising humidity keeps conditions sticky until the rains fully set in.

Precipitation
Джайпур sees most of its annual rainfall between June and September, with July and August accounting for the bulk. During these months, short but heavy downpours are common, often in the late afternoon or evening. July alone can bring over 260 mm of rain, turning streets into temporary streams and making some rural roads impassable.
Outside the monsoon, Джайпур stays dry. From October to May, rainfall is minimal, with December and January often recording less than 1 mm. Even in the pre-monsoon months of April and May, rain is rare, though occasional dust storms can sweep through. The dry air makes the heat more bearable, but hydration remains important.

What to pack
For a trip to Джайпур between November and February, pack light layers for the day and a warmer option for evenings. A scarf or shawl is useful for cooler nights, especially in December and January. Comfortable walking shoes are a must, as the city’s sights often involve uneven surfaces and long stretches on foot.
From March to May, prioritize loose, breathable clothing to cope with the heat. A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen will help shield you from the sun. If visiting during the monsoon (June to September), a compact umbrella or a light rain jacket is handy, along with quick-drying fabrics. Closed shoes can be more practical than sandals when streets flood.
