Gelendzhik

Gelendzhik sits along the Black Sea coast like a quiet promise of summer. The town curves around a wide bay, sheltered by low Caucasian mountains that soften the heat—summers here are warm, but the sea breeze keeps the air from feeling heavy. Many visitors also take short trips to nearby villages like Divnomorskoye or Kabardinka, where the coast feels wilder and less crowded.

Beyond the beaches, the surrounding hills hold hidden trails. Waterfalls tumble down wooded slopes, juniper groves scent the air, and cable cars lift visitors above the town for sweeping views of the bay. On clear days, the contrast between the deep blue water and the green hills is striking.

Gelendzhik’s history goes back centuries, with ancient dolmens scattered in the hills as proof of early settlements. The modern resort took shape in the late 1800s, when the Black Sea coast became a retreat for those seeking sun and sea.
