Weather overview

Дананг enjoys a tropical climate with two distinct seasons: a long dry period and a shorter rainy season. From January to August, the city sees plenty of sunshine and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for beachgoers and outdoor activities. The hottest months, June and July, bring daytime highs near +35 °C, while evenings remain warm and pleasant.

Starting in September, Дананг enters its rainy season, with October being the wettest month. Heavy downpours can last for hours, though they often clear up quickly. By December, rainfall decreases, and temperatures drop slightly, offering a cooler but still comfortable climate for exploring the city and its surroundings.

Temperature

Temperatures in Дананге stay warm year-round, with averages ranging from +22.3 °C in January to +30.6 °C in June. The coolest months, January and December, see lows around +20 °C at night, while daytime highs reach +25 °C. This makes winter a comfortable time for sightseeing without the intense heat of summer.

From April to August, Дананг experiences its hottest weather, with daytime temperatures often climbing above +30 °C. The peak is in June, when highs can reach +35.9 °C. Evenings offer little relief, staying around +26 °C, so air conditioning becomes essential for a good night’s rest. The sea temperature also rises during these months, reaching +31.5 °C in August, perfect for swimming.

By September, temperatures begin to ease, though the humidity remains high. October and November bring slightly cooler weather, with highs around +29.8 °C and +28.5 °C respectively. Nighttime temperatures drop to +24 °C, making it more comfortable for walking along Дананг’s beaches or exploring the nearby Marble Mountains.

What to pack

For a trip to Дананг during the dry season, pack lightweight, breathable clothing to stay comfortable in the heat. A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are essential, as the sun can be intense even in January and February. Don’t forget a swimsuit, as the sea temperature stays warm year-round, averaging +23.7 °C in January and peaking at +31.5 °C in August.

If you’re visiting Дананг during the rainy season, a compact umbrella or a light rain jacket will come in handy. Waterproof footwear is also useful, as sudden downpours can leave streets temporarily flooded. While temperatures remain warm, a light sweater or long-sleeve shirt can be useful for cooler evenings, especially in December when lows dip to +21 °C.

Regardless of the season, comfortable walking shoes are a must for exploring Дананг’s attractions, from the Golden Bridge to the Son Tra Peninsula. A reusable water bottle is also a good idea, as staying hydrated is key in the tropical climate. If you plan to visit temples or religious sites, modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees is recommended.
