Weather overview

Arouca enjoys a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round, making it a pleasant destination regardless of when you visit. The weather in Arouca is divided into distinct dry and rainy seasons, each offering a different experience. From January to April, the conditions are drier, with plenty of sunshine and lower humidity. This period is ideal for exploring the outdoors without the interruption of frequent showers.

Starting in May, the rainy season begins to set in, bringing more frequent and heavier downpours, especially from June to November. While the rain can be persistent, it rarely lasts all day, often arriving in short, intense bursts. The lush landscapes of Arouca thrive during these months, offering vibrant scenery for those who don’t mind a little moisture. December marks a transition, with rainfall easing and the weather becoming more balanced.

What to pack

When packing for Arouca, focus on lightweight, breathable clothing to stay comfortable in the warm climate. During the dry season, from January to April, you’ll want loose-fitting clothes, a hat, and sunglasses to protect against the sun. A light sweater might be useful for cooler evenings, though temperatures rarely dip below +22 °C.

If you’re visiting Arouca during the rainy season, from May to November, pack quick-drying fabrics and waterproof footwear. A compact umbrella or a rain jacket will help you stay dry during sudden downpours. Since the humidity can be high, moisture-wicking clothing is a good idea to stay comfortable.
